Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday (local time) made history as he became the first Muslim mayor of New York City. The Ugandan-born, Indian-origin Democrat triumphed over former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a record-breaking election that saw over two million New Yorkers cast ballots.
He took to X to celebrate his significant victory with a brief yet symbolic message by sharing a video, in which a train stops at a subway station in New York City, and a woman's voice can be heard announcing," The next and last stop is City Hall." And, the clip fades into text reading, "Zohran for New York City."
This can be said to be the first reaction of Zohran after winning the mayoral election, as he announced his arrival in the city as its new mayor.
