The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) season three is well underway, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays.

The Prime Video programme, adapted from Jenny Han's YA trilogy, explores an intense love triangle involving Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney).

Thus far, the third and final season is following Jeremiah and Belly as they gear up for a huge milestone in their four-year romance: marriage. All the while, Conrad has been quietly yearning for his brother's partner.

The majority of the programme is set in Cousins Beach, an imaginary coastal community that Belly's family visits each summer. But audiences rarely see the Conklins in their home city, which author and executive producer Han does not specify in her novels.

However, the series provides clues regarding the Conklins' actual hometown, reports the Mirror.

During season one, it was suggested that the Conklins reside in Pennsylvania due to their family car displaying a Pennsylvania registration plate.

Later in the drama, it was established that they are from Philadelphia. In a chat with his former girlfriend Shayla, Belly's brother Steven (portrayed by Sean Kaufman) disclosed that he "grew up in the suburbs of Philly."

The Fisher family lives is in Boston, Massachusetts in both the novels and the television adaptation. They make their annual trip to Cousins every summer.

The creator of Cousins, Han, revealed the inspiration behind the idyllic fictional town to TODAY in 2022. "Cousins is inspired by a lot of different beaches," she said.

Han elaborated on her muses, citing iconic locations such as Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, as well as The Hamptons in Long Island and Nags Head in North Carolina. She further expressed that the quintessential beach town strikes a chord with readers worldwide.

"I think it's why these books have really resonated with people all over because. Everybody has like a beach they've been to as a kid, so people like in Sweden or in Vietnam can imagine their own."

The Summer I Turned Pretty streams Wednesdays on Prime Video.
