According to chef Gordon Ramsay there is one star ingredient in scrambled eggs - and it's not milk or butter. Super simple to recreate at home, the cook's best ever scrambled eggs recipe consists of just four items, plus seasoning.
"Crack six cold eggs into a deep saucepan," he began. "Add the butter. For smaller batches, use a two-to-one eggs-to-butter ratio." The pan is then placed on high heat and it's advised to stir the butter and egg mixture "continuously with a rubber spatula". Differing from some recipes, Ramsay advises against whisking the egg mixture at all.
Instead, home cooks are recommended to "scrape the bottom of the pan" when making scrambled eggs.
"After 30 seconds, take the pan off the heat. Keep stirring," Ramsay instructed. "After about 10 seconds, put back on the heat. Repeat for three minutes."
In the last minute, add seasoning of salt and black pepper, but then comes the star ingredient.
"For extra creamy texture, stir in one tablespoon of crème fraîche," Ramsay revealed.
The scrambled eggs dish is then ready to be plated and garnished with chopped chives.
For optimal results, the creamy scrambled eggs are best added on top of toasted bread.
While any bread will do, using sourdough bread is a great option for a more sophisticated touch.
Extra toppings can include avocado, rocket salad, salmon, bacon, prosciutto and/or tomatoes.
