Mike Tyson andFloyd Mayweather both made mass amounts of money in their boxing careers, but it's the latter that comes out on top financially.

The two greats defined their eras in the pugilistic sport with Tyson, 59, becoming the 'Baddest Man on the Planet' in the 1980s where he became, and still is, the youngest heavyweight champion ever at just 20 years old.

It was in the late 1990s when Mayweather's taste for gold was first achieved as the boxer went on to become a 15-time world champion in five different weight classes. Possessing a perfect 50-0 undefeated professional record, the 48-year-old was also boxing's biggest cash cow for well over a decade.

With an unprecedented 10 pay-per-views with over a million buys to his name, the 'Money' nickname that Mayweather adopted during his career is certainly well suited.

Despite their legacies already set in stone, the pair have agreed to cross generations andfight each other in boxing exhibition in 2026. According to TMZ, contracts have already been signed for the spring clash.

Tyson made a return to professional boxing last year after 19 years whenlosing a unanimous decision to Jake Paul while Mayweather last's venture in the ring was also last year in his exhibition rematch against John Gotti III.

Both men have long enjoyed the fruits of their labour with Tyson estimated to have earned over £319million throughout his fighting career. Despite that mammoth figure, the New York-born fighter reportedly has a net worth of just £22m, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Tyson has been vocal of how his reckless spending saw him almost waste his entire fortune which led to his bankruptcy in 2003. He's since bounced back in recent years with business ventures such as Tyson 2.0 - his cannabis company.

His entrepreneurial activities saw him be named CEO Carma HoldCo, the parent company behind cannabis brands that include Tyson 2.0, Ric Flair Drip and Evol by Future, in April.

Reigning as the highest-grossing combat sports athlete ever, Mayweather generated £890m in earnings during his career and is said to have a net worth of £296m that drastically dwarfs Tyson's. Among his impressive investment portfolio is his claimed ownership of nine skyscrapers in the Big Apple.

It was in 2023 that he claimed to own the "tallest commercial building in America", which is the One Vanderbilt building, located in Manhattan. He'll need to be in fighting mode, however, when he challenges Tyson who said to TMZ about the bout: "This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen.

"However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable - and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this. It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed and it's happening!"

Mayweather also had a statement in regards to their clash and offered a keen warning to Tyson as he said: "I've been doing this for 30 years and there hasn't been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy.

"You already know that if I am going to do something, it's going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I'm the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want."
