BBC Breakfast's live broadcast interrupted as Naga Munchetty announces devastating news

Naga Munchetty sombrely delivered some devastating news on Friday's edition of BBC Breakfast, announcing the identities of the victims from Thursday's Manchester synagogue attack.

The presenter broke into the programme with a live update, stating: "In the last few minutes, Greater Manchester Police have named the two men who were killed in the attack yesterday at Heaton Park, Hebrew Congregation Synagogue."

She continued, revealing the names: "They are 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old. Melvin Cravitz, a spokesperson for the force, said, 'Our deepest sympathies are with Mr. Daulby and Mr. Cravitz's loved ones at this extremely hard time'.

She added, "We understand that the families have been informed. Family Liaison Officers are in contact with them and offering support from the Home Office," reports the Express.

She further reported, "Post mortems will take place later this morning, and they will the families will be continued to be updated on the investigation."

Naga then said, "We've also been told that whilst there are processes which must be followed, we commit to being mindful of cultural preferences and sensitivities and to ensuring that these men and their loved ones' wishes are respected. So that is an update on the Heaton Park Synagogue attack."

Earlier, Naga and her co-host Charlie Stayt had opened the show with the harrowing news of the attack.

Charlie swiftly got to the point as he announced, "Our headlines today. Security is tightened at synagogues across the country after two people were killed in an attack in Manchester on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar."

Naga revealed, "The killer is named as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British man of Syrian descent. Police have declared it a terrorist incident."

Charlie went on to say, "The Chief Rabbi has condemned the attack as the tragic result of an unrelenting wave of Jew hatred, as the Prime Minister pledges to keep Jewish people safe."

A clip featuring Sir Keir Starmer was then shown, with the Prime Minister declaring, "I promise you that I will do everything in my power to guarantee you the security that you deserve."

Naga concluded, "We'll bring you the latest from the scene, and we'll talk to the Home Secretary."
