Adam Wharton makes gesture at Sky Sports reporter after overhearing transfer question

Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton made his future plans clear with Sky Sports in attendance at the Eagles training session on Wednesday. Even when preparing for their UEFA Conference League play-off against Frederkstad, they cannot escape transfer speculation and questions.

Even with just days remaining of the transfer window, the Eagles face the prospect of losing two key players. Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi could still move to Tottenham and Liverpool as the month comes to a close after being two of the protagonists in helping Palace into European action.

There has also been speculation over figures such as Wharton and Jean-Phillipe Mateta as they continue to build their reputations after FA Cup glory. And, in the open portion of their session, Oliver Glasner's stars could not avoid the transfer talk in a very real way.

Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill was on the sidelines and soon had a studio anchor setting the scene. "This is prime Sky Sports News, prime Gary Cotterill," they said.

"He's within arms length of Eberechi Eze, and Adam Wharton, you can ask him about his future while he's there, and Jean-Phillipe Mateta."

Loud enough for nearby players to hear, Cotterrill returned: "I'm not going to ask Adam Wharton about his future, no."

Eze was the first to look up and cast an unimpressed gaze in the direction of the camera before Wharton offered his own response. The former Blackburn star, following an exchange of words with Mateta, turned to the camera before adjusting his STATSports Vest in a bid to try and reveal the Crystal Palace badge on his training kit.

But Eze and Guehi are perhaps unable to give as enthusiastic responses as their futures still require resolutions. Both are likely to feature on Thursday evening against Fredrikstad.

Tottenham and Palace have still not yet reached an agreement over a transfer fee for Eze. The sides have been in talks over a deal but have so far been unable to agree on a payment structure for a proposed £60million package.

Eze is said to be keen on the idea of moving across London but awaits a breakthrough. Oliver Glasner believes both players remain committed to his cause.

"Most of you will be surprised that they will start again tomorrow because of all the rumours," Glasner said in his press conference. "But they are committed here and they will play a crucial part."
