Nine Days of Worship
During the nine days of Navratri, the nine powers of Goddess Durga are worshipped daily. Many people observe fasts on the first and eighth day, while others fast for the entire nine days. Consequently, many women who perform pujas during Navratri begin their menstruation. In Hinduism, menstruation is considered a physiological process. According to some traditions, women are advised to stay away from places of worship and refrain from participating in religious rituals during their periods. It is believed that the body is in a state of purification during this time, so one should rest.

Take Care of Such a Situation Beforehand
If a woman gets her period during Navratri, it is a natural occurrence and recurs every 22 to 28 days. If you anticipate this problem during Navratri, you should not begin the fast. In such a situation, you can fast only on the first and eighth day of the month, instead of the full nine days. Many women experience health problems during menstruation, such as dizziness, loss of appetite, and constipation. In such situations, women are advised to rest.

What do religious scriptures say?
In Hinduism, menstruation is considered a physiological process. According to some traditions, women are advised to stay away from places of worship and refrain from participating in religious rituals during their periods. The reason for this is physical discomfort and the need for rest, not a woman's inferiority. If you menstruate during Navratri, you can fast if you wish, but touching the idol or other objects related to worship is prohibited. God looks at the devotee's devotion, not physical purification.

Modern Perspective
Today's generation views this differently. Many scholars and saints say that menstruation is a natural process, and it is wrong to consider it impure. Women have complete freedom to meditate and chant the name of Goddess Durga even during this period. The only difference is that physical presence in the temple or place of worship should be avoided. Directly touching the idol, touching worship materials, or sitting in a fire ritual is considered prohibited. However, chanting, meditation, reciting hymns, etc., can be done in the mind; mental worship is not prohibited.
