The IT capital is set to experience cloudy skies and moderate rain under a yellow alert through the week, with temperatures hovering between 30°C and 20°C under a continued yellow alert till Monday.
With dark clouds hanging over most parts of the city, several roads witnessed slow-moving traffic and brief waterlogging during the early commute. Officials have urged residents to remain cautious and plan travel carefully, especially through low-lying stretches prone to flooding. The current spell is part of a broader weather system strengthening over southern India as the northeast monsoon gains momentum.
Bengaluru weather forecast for the week
- October 22 (Wednesday): Overcast skies with moderate rain; temperature between 26°C and 21°C. (Yellow Alert)
- October 23 (Thursday): Mostly cloudy with intermittent rain; 27°C / 21°C. (Yellow Alert)
- October 24 (Friday): Cloudy skies and moderate rainfall expected; 28°C / 21°C. (Yellow Alert)

Weather disturbance
According to weather experts, a low-pressure system developing over the Southwest Bay of Bengal is driving the prolonged rainfall.
The system has generated a series of strong rainbands extending over South Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu, and South Interior Karnataka, leading to persistent showers across Bengaluru and nearby districts.
A weather tracker on social media noted that these rainbands are “active and gradually shifting inland,” adding that rainfall is likely to continue in Bengaluru, Chennai, and adjoining regions throughout the week. The IMD expects this low-pressure area to consolidate further, possibly intensifying before it moves toward the coast.
Heavy rain over several Karnataka districts
The IMD has expanded the yellow alert to include Hassan, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Mandya, and Ramanagara, warning of heavy rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds between 30 and 40 km/h.
Stronger spells of rain are also expected in Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Chamarajanagar, and Hassan, where isolated places may see very heavy downpours.
Meanwhile, Ballari, Chitradurga, Davanagere, and Vijayanagara districts can expect light to moderate showers. Bengaluru’s temperature is likely to hover around a maximum of 30°C and a minimum of 20°C, keeping the city comfortably cool but humid.
