AIIMS Gorakhpur New Course: New courses will be started in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Gorakhpur. In the 8th meeting of the Standing Academic Committee (SAC) of AIIMS Gorakhpur, it was decided to start many new courses. The newly started courses include important programs like Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC).

What was the agenda of the meeting
The AIIMS Gorakhpur Standing Academic Committee meeting was chaired by the Executive Director of the Institute, Ashok Jahnavi Prasad. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on how to further strengthen health education and training, so that the doctors and specialists coming out of the institute can make their mark not only in the country but also at the international level. Special attention was given to the mental health of the students in the meeting. According to Executive Director Prasad, in recent years, incidents of suicide of students in educational institutions have become a matter of concern.
Which courses will be started?
DM (Doctor of Medicine): Neurology, Pain Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, and Critical Care Medicine.
PDCC (Post-Doctoral Certificate Course): Trauma Anesthesia, Spine Trauma, Pelvic-Acetabular Surgery, and Adolescent Gynecology
PDF (Post-Doctoral Fellowship): Maternal-Fetal Medicine, which will be run under the Department of Gynecology.
MS (Master of Surgery): Trauma Surgery.
Other courses: PhD in Nursing, MSc in Nursing Psychology, and BSc in Operating Theatre Technology.
What will be the benefit to the students?
A decision has been taken to start many new courses in AIIMS Gorakhpur. According to the director of AIIMS Gorakhpur, courses like MSc in Nursing Psychology will prepare such experts who can provide mental health-related assistance not only to the students but to the entire society. Meaning, now MSc Nursing can be done from AIIMS Gorakhpur. Similarly, courses like BSc in Operation Theatre Technology can be done without doing NEET.
